USB-C cables are not all the same
240W PD needs an e-marker chip. 40Gbps needs USB4. Your £2 cable will melt if you try.

## The tiers
USB 2.0 (480Mbps, 60W) → USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps, 100W) → USB4 (40Gbps, 240W).
## How to spot the difference
E-marker chip = rated for 100W+. USB4 logo = 40Gbps. 'Thunderbolt 4' logo = guaranteed USB4 + TB features.
